This site is a tribute to Hannah. She is the most beautiful, talented, caring, creative, incredibly brave, strong, loving daughter, sister, girlfriend and friend and is deeply loved and missed by us all.
Hannah died on Tuesday 25th August of bowel cancer. She was 37 years old. 3 weeks before she died we found out she had cancer, just 3 weeks.
Hannah had little to no symptoms, she was an active, seemingly healthy, gorgeous woman who was singing and dancing just days before her diagnosis. She suffered with bouts of abdominal bloating for a long time, but it was put down to flare ups from a gluten intolerance that doctors had diagnosed years previous. She moved to Spain in June to follow her dreams and be with the love of her life, but 3 weeks after arriving she started to suffer from sickness and constipation. By this point the cancer had spread to her liver and lungs and was already stage 4. She had an operation on Friday 14th August to remove the tumour that was obstructing her bowel and the hope was she would receive chemotherapy soon after. She never recovered from the operation and died just 11 days later.
Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer and every year over 2,500 younger people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK. Bowel Cancer UK are working to spread awareness of bowel cancer in people under 50 with their ‘Never Too Young’ campaign, tackling the challenges faced by younger people with the disease. Bowel cancer is very treatable, even curable with early diagnosis but too often it is being diagnosed too late.
Hannah was truly one of a kind, there aren’t enough words in the world that I could possibly say that would ever do my sister justice, her strength, her beauty, her love, she was just ... perfect. I don’t want to her become a statistic. Her loss is the most devastating, unendurable pain I've ever felt in my life. Nothing can change what has happened but maybe if there had been more awareness, she may have been diagnosed sooner. You are never too young. Know the symptoms. If this message can help save one life or save one family from having to go through this then we’d be doing Hannah proud.
We hope that her many friends and family will visit this page to share their happy memories through photos, videos, stories or music; a place where we can all visit often and remember the amazing person she is.
Any money we raise through this page we have asked to go directly into the Bowel Cancer UK 'Never Too Young' campaign.
