Firstly, thank you in advance - if you've got this far you're hopefully thinking of donating money. For that - thank you! You're already brilliant and I am very grateful. However, if you can take the time to read the below, it would mean a lot as it isn't just the usual blurb. There's some information I would really like you to know, so if you read nothing else, please jump to the READ THIS part. Thanks! Fran x Almost four years ago, my best friend Hannah died of bowel cancer, just three weeks after receiving her diagnosis. She was simply brilliant - funny, understanding and brave - and our world has had a lot less colour since she left it. A lot of people know how much she loved to sing and dance, but I don't know how many people knew that she loved a good walk. We'd walk through the fields near our childhood homes in Meriden and Eastern Green, around the Memorial Park, and she would do charity treks with work, always welcoming an excuse to dress up to raise money.
So, it is in her memory - and hopefully borrowing her grit and determination - that I am taking on the Peak District 100k Ultra Challenge. Over two days I'll be walking 100km (just over 62 miles) to raise money for a charity that I've learned so much from in the last four years, and who work tirelessly to raise awareness of the symptoms of bowel cancer. And if you want to know more about Han, how brilliant she was and just how much she was loved, take a look here: https://hannahedwards.muchloved.com/.
This is really important - the symptoms of bowel cancer can include: bleeding from your bottom, blood in your poo, a change in your pooing habits, losing weight but you’re not sure why, feeling very tired all the time but you’re not sure why, a pain or lump in your tummy. Having these symptoms doesn’t mean you have bowel cancer, but it’s still important to find out what’s causing them - so go see your doctor.
